Cathedral Cove Swim 2017 - Swim Report

Saturday March 25 2017

cathederal cove

A cloudy but calm day greeted the eighty or so swimmers at the Paradise Events Cathedral Cove Swim on Saturday at beautiful HaHei beach. Lots of sand and glassy conditions
made for happy swimmers from HaHei beach while the clear water, high rising sea cliffs and spectacular scenery coming into one of New Zealand's famous landmarks of Cathedral Cove
made for a great turn around point. The 2km swimmers enjoyed the great walk there with a completely sealed pathway making for safer walking.

Out first in a new record time in the 4km was Stu Penman of Auckland in 48.44.
Dion Twiss was second in 53.00 while in third and first non wetsuit was Peter Cosseboom in a fast 53.18.
Third non wetsuit was Sylvester Tan.

In the 4k women first home was Sherilyn LeKerk in a slick 1.00.55, second was Talitha McEwan in 1.06.05.
First non wetsuit was Louise Scofield in a competitive 1.06.08 and second was Tracey McKinstry in 1.06.25.
In the 2km swim a young Jackson Scofield took line honours in 38.02 while Alan Mera was first non wetsuit in 40.52.
In the 2km womens first was Abbey Yule in 43.37 while Bianca Shaw took out the non wetsuit in a great 43.37.

Achilles Point Swim Report 2016

Unprecedented amount of easterlies this summer has meant choppy conditions for afternoon North Island east coast swimming the last six weeks.  But an early morning swim saw complete calm and even jumping fish at southern St Heliers beach for the Achilles Point Swim.  Everyone seemed to enjoy this scenic uncrowded swim. Great times by the winners (see results). Plenty of fab prizes thanks to CutShop (restaurant vouchers), prestigious Samoa Swim Series, $250 of Triathletes Corner vouchers,  Mortons bar vouchers etc. Thanks all for your support.
