2014 Upcoming Events
Achilles Point Swim. 2.3km, 3.8km, and 10km Olympic distance. Now SATURDAY Feb 15.
This scenic swim takes in the protected and secret beaches south of Achilles Point, St Heliers with views toward Browns Island and Rangitoto on the right and cliffs and beaches to the left.
(There is a 3.8km/160km bike to Kaiawa return/10km run to Okahu Bay return for Ironpeople. All will be included in the spot prize draw).
Cost: $55 for the 10km (and must provide own support paddler)
$30 per person, $25 for u/18. Register on the day please.
Race Registration: 7 - 8.15AM, Southern St Heliers Beach.
Compulsory Safety & Course briefing: 8.15am then walk or drive to Karaka Bay or Glendowie. High tide: 8.30am.
Swim Start: 7.30am for the 10km from St Heliers, 9.00am for the 3.8km from Glendowie Boat Club, 9.15am for the 2.3km from Karaka Bay.
Prize Giving: Approx: 11am.
Cathedral Cove Swim. Sunday March 23, 2014.
Starting from fabulous Ha Hei beach this idyllic swim takes you through a marine reserve to the famous New Zealand landmark of Cathedral Cove.
Distance: 4.2km, or 2km (scenic walk there, swim back).
Cost: $35 or $30 one way. $25 for u/18.
Race Registration: Between 09:00-10:00am at Ha Hei Beach.
Compulsory Safety and Course Briefing: 10:00am. Start: 10.15am and 11.30 one way. High tide: 1pm
Finish: Hahei Beach, at start point
Prize giving: Approx 12.30pm. Exciting spot prizes to be won.
Magical Mangawhai Easter Weekend 2014
Magical Mangawhai Swim and SUP Paddle/board paddle/ski paddle. (2km and 6km option for swimmers) tide assisted. Easter Friday April 18
A scenic swim from the infamous Mangawhai Tavern, down the calm estuary, past the mighty sand dunes , around the point, then catch a wave into beautiful Mangawhai Beach.
Race Registration Mangawhai Surf Lifesaving Club: 9 – 9.45am, followed by Compulsory Safety & Course Briefing
Swim start: 10.30am. High tide: 9.30am.
(Or alternative route: Walk the coastal track and swim back to the surf club (4km)).
The Mangawhai Half Marathon & 10km. Saturday April 19
Run past green pastures, through a pine forest, to stunning Ocean Beach and return. Sadly this beach will soon have 46 houses next to it so this may be our last chance to view it in its untouched state.
Race Registration: Mangawhai Tavern, Moir St., Mangawhai Village: 7 – 7.45am.
Race briefing: 7.45am. Start: 8am. Prizegiving: 10.30am
